Mr Barham has degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Sydney. He practised as a litigation solicitor for 10 years and was a partner in a firm of solicitors in North Sydney before he was admitted to the Bar.

He has appeared and advised in a wide variety of matters in many jurisdictions including Local Court (civil and criminal), District Court (civil and criminal) and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He has also appeared in the NSW Court of Appeal in a variety of matters including contracts and prerogative relief, the Federal Court of Australia (civil and quasi criminal – contempt), and the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal in Gilham v R, as well as tribunals such as NCAT (formerly the CTTT), primarily in building matters.
Peter is a member of the Mediation Institute and an accrediated mediator under AMDRAS (Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards) and is a strong believer in the mediation process.
Mr Barham is married with two adult children. His extra-legal interests include surfing, sports generally, history and music.
